The Story

CTO Lighting presents the Avalon Oval, inspired by the legendary island where tales of light and shadow have captivated imaginations for centuries. Cascades of light emerge from a precious ring of alabaster, elegantly framed in brass or bronze, producing a refined and ethereal illumination. The new oval shape adds versatility, creating a striking centrepiece for any interior.

Mined in Zaragoza, Spain, the alabaster is renowned for its delicate veining and soft translucency. Each piece is meticulously crafted by CTO Lighting’s artisans using time-honoured techniques, ensuring both durability and the natural beauty of the stone. This noble material gently diffuses light, casting a warm, ambient glow that elevates the sophistication of any space.

Under the guidance of founders Chris and Clare, the studio embraced hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-crafted stone, establishing a distinctive approach to materiality and detail. This considered refinement led to CTO Lighting being recognised as a British luxury lighting brand, with manufacturing rooted in the UK.CTO Lighting has collaborated with leading industry figures including David Collins Studio, Philippe Starck and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, contributing to prestigious interiors worldwide. The studio has also been commissioned to create bespoke lighting for landmark destinations such as The Savoy, The Dorchester London, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.

Working with respected, award-winning designers including Autoban, Michael Verheyden and Stephane Parmentier, CTO Lighting continues to bring depth and character to its collections. In 2016, the brand opened its first exclusive London showroom, offering a dedicated space to present its work. Today, the collection is distributed globally through leading design-led retailers and specified by international interior designers and architects.
