Scott Tetlow
Scott Threw, British artist, born in Rochdale in 1969.
Early years: developed passion for art, sketching punk scenes and designing album covers as teenager.Education: studied Fine Art at Cheltenham University, earning his degree.
Turning point: in 2002, his studio was destroyed by fire, leading to teaching and stepping back from practice.
Reawakening: in 2011, while living in Verona above an art shop, he rediscovered architectural drawing, returned to England, and built a garden studio, resuming painting.
Influence: studied Chinese calligraphy in Taiwan, embracing “writing a painting” and the balance of visible and hidden beauty.
Practice: focuses on movement, energy and expressive line, working in continuous flow without correction.Philosophy: each mark drawn from living form, capturing life and motion.
