Martin Robson | The King | Original British Art

Born in 1969, Martin Robson is a British artist based near Lichfield in Staffordshire. Growing up on the edge of Cannock Chase and the surrounding countryside shaped his lifelong connection to wildlife, nature, and visual art. From an early age, he showed a natural aptitude for drawing and painting, often spending hours immersed in creative work. Over time, he refined his skills through steady practice and an enduring commitment to artistic growth.

He studied at Stafford Art College before progressing to Wolverhampton University, where he earned a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design. At the time, the discipline was still largely rooted in traditional, pre-digital methods, giving him a strong foundation in classical design principles. His professional career began in 1993 within the gaming machine industry as a Graphic Artist, marking his introduction to commercial art. During this period, he produced themed visuals including characters, environments, and animations, later progressing to the role of Creative Director in 2013.

After 25 years in the industry, Martin transitioned in 2018 to pursue fine art full time as a self-employed artist. His longstanding passion for animals—rooted in childhood pet ownership—naturally evolved into commissioned portrait work.
