The CARAPACE Wall by CTO Lighting is a modern reinterpretation of a 1920s classic. It features a layered composition of hand-spun metal shades in bronze and brass, with perforations that allow light to glow warmly from within, while the central opal glass diffuses illumination evenly. Its compact and symmetrical design delivers a striking visual impact, making it suitable for a variety of settings. The Maker

Under the guidance of founders Chris and Clare, the studio embraced hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-crafted stone, establishing a distinctive approach to materiality and detail. This considered refinement led to CTO Lighting being recognised as a British luxury lighting brand, with manufacturing rooted in the UK.CTO Lighting has collaborated with leading industry figures including David Collins Studio, Philippe Starck and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, contributing to prestigious interiors worldwide. The studio has also been commissioned to create bespoke lighting for landmark destinations such as The Savoy, The Dorchester London, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.

Working with respected, award-winning designers including Autoban, Michael Verheyden and Stephane Parmentier, CTO Lighting continues to bring depth and character to its collections. In 2016, the brand opened its first exclusive London showroom, offering a dedicated space to present its work. Today, the collection is distributed globally through leading design-led retailers and specified by international interior designers and architects.

• Care: CTO Lighting advises that the Carapace Wall should be cared for with simple, attentive maintenance to preserve its hand‑spun metal and opal glass finish. Gently dust the metalwork and glass with a soft, dry, lint‑free cloth on a regular basis to maintain its warm glow without risk of abrasion. Avoid harsh or abrasive cleaners, and never apply liquids directly onto the fixture — if a mild solution is needed, apply it sparingly to the cloth first and then wipe gently.
